intense rehabilitation

Our 7 day a week aggressive rehab is the best in the industry.
Biodex Unweighing System
Partial weight bearing, also known as Unweighing, is a concept of rehab that uses an external device to support a percentage of the patient's body weight, allowing them to perform a variety of exercises/activities in an upright and safe environment. The unweighing system is typically used with neurological disorders, and the patient's body weight is supported between 20-40% to assist with developing proper gait patterns and improving cardiovascular and muscular endurance with less physical demand. By initiating this type of therapy early in the rehab process, it allows for development of neural pathways through muscular patterning. We are the only facility in this geographic location that has this piece of equipment.
NuStep T4r Recumbent Cross Trainer (2)
The NuStep recumbent cross trainer is used for physical and occupational therapy, as well as for cardiopulmonary and stroke rehabilitation. Using total body exercise, it combines a natural sitting position with a smooth stepping motion. The NuStep works all major body groups, giving an effective workout in a comfortable position. The NuStep design allows for movement of the arms and legs in a single, dependent, fluid motion that simulates walking, with the added benefit of resistance training. Working both the upper and lower body simultaneously uses more muscles.
VitalStim Therapy
Patients diagnosed with Dysphagia, defined as difficulty in swallowing, usually exhibit signs of penetration or aspiration (food or liquid getting into the lungs), muscle weakness and difficulty managing a normal diet. An impaired swallow often results in feeding restrictions, which in turn contribute to a decline in quality of life. VitalStim Therapy is designed to help swallowing through the use of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES). Electrical stimulation is used to aid muscle strengthening to rehabilitate swallow. The sensory stimulation that is provided also helps muscle recruitment and swallowing function.
Intelect SWD 100
Short wave diathermy is a therapeutic modality used most commonly for muscle and joint pain. The heat from this unit, generated from high-frequency electromagnetic energy, assists with various processes including increased blood flow, relieving pain, reducing edema, and improving mobility of tissues as they heal. It can reach as deep as two inches beneath the skin's surface.

Diathermy is used to treat the following conditions:
  • Arthritis
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Myositis
  • Neuralgia
  • Back pain
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Fibromyalgia
Biodex Balance Machine
This computerized equipment can assess and treat balance challenges. Through a series of tests, this technology helps the therapist determine which of the three body systems responsible for balance control is contributing to the patient´s balance issues. The three body systems are: vestibular, visual and somatosensory. Once the system objectively determines what the contributing factors are to the impaired balance, the Biodex Balance machine translates this into treatment. With this equipment, treatment is done in a manner that is very engaging and fun, but is extremely effective. Progress reports of each treatment can be printed out so that the patient and family can track and compare specific progress from each treatment session.
Metron Plus Electric Hi-Lo Stand-In Table
The electric hi-lo table assists in lifting the patient from a sitting position to a standing position. Our unit can power lift a 300 lb patient. A four point support system allows the patient to experience standing. A back pad provides additional lumbar support. This act of "passive" standing helps the patient reap the physical and emotional benefits that this movement provides. It also reduces the health risks associated with prolonged sitting and provides weight bearing through the upper and lower extremities.
